AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 4037

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 4037 by replacing
3 everything after the enacting clause with the following:
 
4     "Section 5. The Election Code is amended by changing
5 Section 19A-15 as follows:
 
6     (10 ILCS 5/19A-15)
7     Sec. 19A-15. Period for early voting; hours.
8     (a) The period for early voting by personal appearance
9 begins the 22nd day preceding a general primary, consolidated
10 primary, consolidated, or general election and extends through
11 the 5th day before election day.
12     (b) A permanent polling place for early voting must remain
13 open for at least 8 hours a day on weekdays. In addition,
14 permanent polling places must be open for at least 12 hours on
15 the final weekend of early voting. during the hours of 8:30
16 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on weekdays and

1 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
2     (c) In any county or jurisdiction under a board of election
3 commissioners that does not open a permanent polling place
4 under Section 19A-10, the election authority shall provide
5 early voting at the office of the election authority during
6 regular office hours. In addition, the election authority shall
7 provide additional opportunities for early voting as follows:
8         (1) In counties under 100,000, at least 4 additional
9     hours on the final weekend of early voting shall be
10     provided before any general primary election or general
11     election.
12         (2) In counties of 100,000 or more but under 250,000,
13     at least 8 additional hours on the final weekend of early
14     voting shall be provided before any general primary
15     election or general election.
