AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2625

2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 2625, AS AMENDED,
3 with reference to page and line numbers of Senate Amendment No.
4 1 on page 1, by replacing line 5 with "Sections 5.719 and 5.720
5 as follows:"; and
 
6 on page 1, by inserting below line 8 the following:
 
7     "(30 ILCS 105/5.720 new)
8     Sec. 5.720. The United Auto Workers' Fund."; and
 
9 on page 1, by replacing line 10 with "Sections 3-684 and 3-685
10 as follows:"; and
 
11 on page 3, line 13, by replacing "purposes." with the
12 following:

2     Sec. 3-685. United Auto Workers license plates.
3     (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and
4 applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may
5 issue special registration plates designated as United Auto
6 Workers license plates. The special plates issued under this
7 Section shall be affixed only to passenger vehicles of the
8 first division or motor vehicles of the second division
9 weighing not more than 8,000 pounds. Plates issued under this
10 Section shall expire according to the multi-year procedure
11 established by Section 3-414.1 of this Code.
12     (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be
13 wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate
14 documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany
15 each application. The Secretary may allow the plates to be
16 issued as vanity plates or personalized plates under Section
17 3-405.1 of this Code. The Secretary shall prescribe stickers or
18 decals as provided under Section 3-412 of this Code.
19     (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a
20 $25 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate
21 registration fee. Of this fee, $10 shall be deposited into the
22 United Auto Workers' Fund and $15 shall be deposited into the
23 Secretary of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used by
24 the Secretary to help defray the administrative processing
25 costs.

1 addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged.
2 Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the United Auto
3 Workers' Fund and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of
4 State Special License Plate Fund.
5     (d) The United Auto Workers' Fund is created as a special
6 fund in the State treasury. All moneys in the United Auto
7 Workers' Fund shall be paid, subject to appropriation by the
8 General Assembly and approval by the Secretary, as grants for
9 charitable purposes sponsored by Illinois local unions
10 affiliated with the United Auto Workers.".
