SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

105 ILCS 5/10-20.46 new
105 ILCS 5/34-18.37 new

Amends the School Code. Provides that a school board shall require students who participate in an interscholastic athletic program to undergo an electrocardiogram (EKG) test. Provides that the State Board of Education shall determine how often a student must undergo EKG testing.

AN ACT concerning education.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections 10-20.46 and 34-18.37 as follows:

(105 ILCS 5/10-20.46 new)

Sec. 10-20.46. Student athletes; EKG required. Each school board shall require students who participate in an interscholastic athletic program to undergo an electrocardiogram (EKG) test. The State Board of Education shall determine how often a student must undergo EKG testing.
