To the Honorable Members of the

Illinois Senate

95th General Assembly

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 9(b) of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, I hereby veto

Senate Bill 835, entitled “AN ACT concerning local government.” I recognize and appreciate the hard work of all the sponsors in passing this legislation, and share their support for school construction funding. However, such projects should be funded through a statewide capital plan, not a sales tax increase.

            For this reason, I hereby veto and return Senate Bill 835.
