AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 517

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 517 on page 2, line 15, after "benefits", by inserting "and exemption from any subsequent recovery by this State of medical assistance provided to the individual"; and

on page 6, after line 14, by inserting the following:

"Section 25. Reciprocal agreements with other states. The Department shall enter into reciprocal agreements with other states to extend asset protection to a resident of this State who purchased a long-term care benefit plan in another state that has a substantially similar asset disregard program.

Section 30. Discontinuance of program. If the Long-Term Care Partnership Program is discontinued, an individual who purchased an approved plan before the date the program is discontinued remains eligible to receive dollar-for-dollar asset disregard and asset protection under the medical assistance program."; and

on page 6, line 16, by changing "Section 25." to "Section 80.".
