SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Patricia Elizabeth Jones of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She was born Patricia Elizabeth Harvey on May 1, 1941 in Chicago, the second of two children born to Francis and Odessa (Hale) Harvey; she was educated in the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago City Colleges; she married Kenneth L. Jones in 1976; and

WHEREAS, For most of her career, Patricia worked for the Chicago Housing Authority as a management specialist; she later worked for several private housing organizations as a housing manager; she was a member of the National Center for Housing Management and was a certified Public Housing Manager; and

WHEREAS, She loved animals and she and Kenneth owned two cats, Cocoa and Missy, and two dogs, Buffy and Sadie; these pets were her babies; she delighted in remodeling, decorating, and furnishing their newly purchased home in the Ashburn neighborhood; shopping for family and friends was another passion; she spent considerable amounts of time carefully selecting "the perfect gift" and Christmas was an especially enjoyable time of the year for her when a large decorated tree occupied the living room; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Patricia Elizabeth Jones is felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her devoted husband, Kenneth; her sister, Jeanne Chaney and her husband, Richard; her nephew, Richard Harvey Chaney and his wife, Jacquelyn; her niece, Jennifer Chaney; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Connie and Rebecca Randall; her brothers-in-law, Russell, Gerald, and Walter; her daughters, Dorothy Phillips (William) and Laura Strong (Stevie); her six grandchildren; and her many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Patricia Elizabeth Jones and we extend our sincerest condolences to her family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
