To the Honorable Members of the

Illinois Senate

94th General Assembly

Pursuant to Article IV, Section 9(b) of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, I hereby veto

­Senate Bill 288, entitled “AN ACT concerning the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.”   Senate Bill 288 exempts the position of “assistant director of personnel” from the civil service protections of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation Act.  At this point, I am not convinced that a person serving in this position should be not benefit from these protections.

            For this reason, I hereby veto and return Senate Bill 288.
