SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Merrill Davis of Moline, who passed away on December 20, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Merrill Davis was born to Harold and Margaret Davis in Ottumwa, Iowa on August 10, 1927; he attended Iowa Wesleyan; he served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne in the Asia-Pacific area during World War II; he married Carol Jeanne Davis, and they were inseparable for 62 years until her death in 2018; and

WHEREAS, Merrill Davis worked for Deere & Co. for 36 years and then started M.Davis Inc, which is now run by his son-in-law and grandson; and

WHEREAS, Merrill Davis loved flying, shooting, and boating; he was a generous, loving son, husband, father, and grandfather; his dedication to his children and love for his family was unmatched; and

WHEREAS, Merrill Davis was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Max Davis; and his wife; and

WHEREAS, Merrill Davis is survived by his daughters, Cindy Davis and Dori (Steven) Wauer, and his grandchildren, Tom (fiancée, Andrea Deering) Wauer, and Rachael (AJ) Ash; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Merrill Davis and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Merril Davis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
