SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Merrill Davis of Moline, who passed
4away on December 20, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Merrill Davis was born to Harold and Margaret
6Davis in Ottumwa, Iowa on August 10, 1927; he attended Iowa
7Wesleyan; he served as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne in
8the Asia-Pacific area during World War II; he married Carol
9Jeanne Davis, and they were inseparable for 62 years until her
10death in 2018; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Merrill Davis worked for Deere & Co. for 36 years
12and then started M.Davis Inc, which is now run by his
13son-in-law and grandson; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Merrill Davis loved flying, shooting, and
15boating; he was a generous, loving son, husband, father, and
16grandfather; his dedication to his children and love for his
17family was unmatched; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Merrill Davis was preceded in death by his
19parents; his brother, Max Davis; and his wife; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Merrill Davis is survived by his daughters, Cindy

1Davis and Dori (Steven) Wauer, and his grandchildren, Tom
2(fiancée, Andrea Deering) Wauer, and Rachael (AJ) Ash;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Merrill Davis and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Merril Davis as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
