SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John William Comerio of Springfield, who passed away on May 25, 2020; and

WHEREAS, John Comerio was born in Herrin to Mario Louis and Clara Lutostanski Comerio on May 23, 1942; he earned his bachelor's degree in 1965 and his master's degree in 1966 from the University of Illinois; he married Judith Ann Hilger in Champaign on December 26, 1966; he served as an artillery officer in the U. S. Army in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, John Comerio was employed for nearly 30 years with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, eventually serving as deputy director until his retirement in 1999; after retiring, he worked as the development director for the Illinois Association of Park Districts; and

WHEREAS, John Comerio was an strong supporter of therapy dogs, which he personally trained to provide comfort to people in nursing homes throughout Springfield; he was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, John Comerio was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, John Comerio was survived by his wife, Judith; his son, Anthony "Tony" (Theresa) Comerio; his daughter, Carrie Comerio; his grandchildren, John "Jack" and Nicolas "Nico" Comerio and Gabrielle Casciato; his brother, Michael Gene (Cathy) Comerio; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John William Comerio and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Comerio as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
