HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Candy Gordon, who passed away on May 2, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Candy Gordon was born to Elaine D. Lunkins and Randolph Littleton Sr. in Chicago on February 23, 1968; she graduated from Proviso East High School in 1985; she continued her education with a focus in psychology at Triton College and Governors State University; and

WHEREAS, Candy Gordon displayed her love for others through her work at a number of organizations, including Jane Addams Homes in Chicago, Clearbrook in Arlington Heights, and the Association for Individual Development in Aurora; she made her mark in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked at the YMCA, Monroe Harding, Inc., and the Mental Health Cooperative; and

WHEREAS, Candy Gordon committed to her faith at an early age; she loved her hometown of Chicago, traveling, and her family; she enjoyed dressing up every day and spending time with her grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Candy Gordon was an outspoken individual who cared about vulnerable people, especially the young and victims of domestic violence, and she strove to help them overcome obstacles so they could reach their full potential; and

WHEREAS, Candy Gordon was preceded in death by her grandmother, Hazel Lunkins; her parents; her husband, Keith Gordon; and her grandchildren, Randall Gordon Jr., Canada Costella, Mackayla Coleman, Makiya Gordon, Cortez Thomas Jr., Royalty Gordon, and Storm Gordon; and

WHEREAS, Candy Gordon is survived by her brother, Zachary Lunkins; her special friend, George Sain; and her cousin, Andre Harvey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Candy Gordon and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Candy Gordon as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
