HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Candy
4Gordon, who passed away on May 2, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Candy Gordon was born to Elaine D. Lunkins and
6Randolph Littleton Sr. in Chicago on February 23, 1968; she
7graduated from Proviso East High School in 1985; she continued
8her education with a focus in psychology at Triton College and
9Governors State University; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Candy Gordon displayed her love for others
11through her work at a number of organizations, including Jane
12Addams Homes in Chicago, Clearbrook in Arlington Heights, and
13the Association for Individual Development in Aurora; she made
14her mark in Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked at the
15YMCA, Monroe Harding, Inc., and the Mental Health Cooperative;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Candy Gordon committed to her faith at an early
18age; she loved her hometown of Chicago, traveling, and her
19family; she enjoyed dressing up every day and spending time
20with her grandchildren; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Candy Gordon was an outspoken individual who

1cared about vulnerable people, especially the young and
2victims of domestic violence, and she strove to help them
3overcome obstacles so they could reach their full potential;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Candy Gordon was preceded in death by her
6grandmother, Hazel Lunkins; her parents; her husband, Keith
7Gordon; and her grandchildren, Randall Gordon Jr., Canada
8Costella, Mackayla Coleman, Makiya Gordon, Cortez Thomas Jr.,
9Royalty Gordon, and Storm Gordon; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Candy Gordon is survived by her brother, Zachary
11Lunkins; her special friend, George Sain; and her cousin,
12Andre Harvey; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Candy Gordon and extend our sincere
16condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Candy Gordon as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
