SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of David Piktel of Winthrop Harbor, who passed away on July 10, 2017; and

WHEREAS, David Piktel was born in Waukegan to Joseph Piktel and Marie Dahl on January 10, 1949; and

WHEREAS, David Piktel worked for the North Chicago Post Office in the late 1960s; he then worked for 20 years at Polk Brothers in Waukegan; most recently, he was self-employed as a painter; and

WHEREAS, David Piktel was affectionately known as "Little Dave", "Poppy", and "Uncle Dave"; he was a member of Zion-Benton Moose Lodge #667, South Of The Border Muskies Inc., and General Casimir Pulaski Post #25 PLAV; and

WHEREAS, David Piktel was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Bill Burton, Bob Burton, Don Burton, and Jim Piktel; and

WHEREAS, David Piktel is survived by his longtime partner, Debbie; his children, Joel Piktel, Ryan Piktel, Stephanie (Jeff) Bruebach, and Katie (Mike Pye) Griffin; his grandchildren, Chelsey, Collin, and Lily; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of David Piktel, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of David Piktel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
