SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ronald A. Oppedisano, who passed away on January 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Oppedisano was born to Norma and August "Gus" Oppedisano on December 14, 1955; his family settled in Norridge in 1961; he earned his bachelor's degree in urban planning and environmental studies from Northeastern Illinois University and married Linda Valentino in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Oppedisano worked for Cook County Assessor Thomas C. Hynes; he worked his way up to various director and supervisory positions; eventually, he earned his MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute and left the Cook County Assessor's office; he founded Disano Appraisal Consultants in 1992; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Oppedisano began his public service career in 1991 as a member, and later chairman, of the Norridge Zoning Board of Appeals; he was appointed to serve as a Village Trustee in 1998 and was elected in 1999, 2003, and 2007; as a Village Trustee, he served as Chairman of some of the most important committees; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Oppedisano was elected to the office of Norridge Village President in 2009; he worked to bring in many millions of dollars in grant money and to formulate and adopt a new comprehensive plan for the village; he created the "Green Team" to expand environmental awareness and began the Norridge farmers market; he also served on the executive committee of the West Central Municipal Conference; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Oppedisano was preceded in death by his parents, and his father-in-law, Richard Valentino; and

WHEREAS, Ronald Oppedisano is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Tena (Brian) McCullough, Lisa (James) Gannon, and Vincent Oppedisano; his grandchildren, Lia, Jack, Joseph, and Lyla; his mother-in-law, Rita Valentino; his brother-in-law, Anthony (Gail) and his sister-in-law, Michele Valentino; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ronald A. Oppedisano, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ronald Oppedisano as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
