SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jay A. Hageman of Fairmount, who passed away on October 9, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Jay Hageman was born in Danville to Joseph and Dolores Messman Hageman on January 30, 1952; he graduated from the University of Illinois and married Tracy Miller in Sidell on November 24, 1974; and

WHEREAS, Jay Hageman operated a farming business, EAgCo, and was the owner of Honest Abe Insurance in Newman; he was a director for the Eastern Illini Electric Cooperative and a member of the Vermilion County Farm Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Jay Hageman was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Broadlands, where he served on many committees and was a longtime Sunday school teacher; he was a member of the Sidell Lions Club; he was a supporter of the Cunningham Children's Home and enjoyed having them out to the farm; his greatest joy was spending quality time with his grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Jay Hageman was preceded in death by his parents; his mother-in-law, Barb Miller; and his brother-in-law, Doug Chew; and

WHEREAS, Jay Hageman is survived by his wife, Tracy; his daughter, Jenny (Chris) Kirschner; his grandchildren, Dylan and Hadley Kirschner; his sisters, Connie Chew, Karen (Barry) Maddox, and Linda (Brent) Winninger; his sister-in-law, Dede (Don) Heidbreder; his father-in-law, Robert Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jay A. Hageman and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jay Hageman as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
