SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles T. "Chuck" Greenway of Morris, who passed away on November 11, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was born in Chicago to Charles S. and Freda (Grapes) Greenway in 1932; he graduated from Fenger High School in Chicago and Bowling Green State University in Ohio, where he was President of Theta Chi Fraternity; he served in the United States Army in 1955, where he served in Intelligence at Fort Meade, Maryland; and

WHEREAS, Charles Greenway started selling cars at Western Avenue, where he became the leading salesman; he was recruited by General Motors and became the District Manager for the Pontiac Motor Division; he moved to Morris in September of 1967, where he purchased Benson Pontiac and founded Greenway Motors, which he operated for 49 years; he has represented Pontiac, Oldsmobile, GMC Trucks, Ford, Mercury, Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Eagle, AMC, and International Harvester; and

WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was past President of the Illinois New Car/Truck Dealer Association; he served for 15 years on the Lockport School Board, and was a member of the Lions Club, the Morris Country Club, and First United Methodist Church; he was a former member of the Joliet Junior College Board; and

WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was an avid boater and enjoyed watching and purchasing in the financial markets; and

WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Charles Greenway is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bettie; his children, Tom (Teresa) Greenway, Debra (Tom) Packley, and Patrick (Christie) Greenway; his grandchildren, Jacob Packley and Deana Packley (fiance Rafael), and David, Alex, Ryan, and Ian Greenway; and his brother, Gerald Greenway (Helga Legler); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles T. "Chuck" Greenway, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Greenway as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
