SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Charles T. "Chuck" Greenway of Morris,
4who passed away on November 11, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was born in Chicago to Charles S.
6and Freda (Grapes) Greenway in 1932; he graduated from Fenger
7High School in Chicago and Bowling Green State University in
8Ohio, where he was President of Theta Chi Fraternity; he served
9in the United States Army in 1955, where he served in
10Intelligence at Fort Meade, Maryland; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Charles Greenway started selling cars at Western
12Avenue, where he became the leading salesman; he was recruited
13by General Motors and became the District Manager for the
14Pontiac Motor Division; he moved to Morris in September of
151967, where he purchased Benson Pontiac and founded Greenway
16Motors, which he operated for 49 years; he has represented
17Pontiac, Oldsmobile, GMC Trucks, Ford, Mercury, Chrysler,
18Plymouth, Dodge, Ram, Jeep, Eagle, AMC, and International
19Harvester; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was past President of the
21Illinois New Car/Truck Dealer Association; he served for 15
22years on the Lockport School Board, and was a member of the

1Lions Club, the Morris Country Club, and First United Methodist
2Church; he was a former member of the Joliet Junior College
3Board; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was an avid boater and enjoyed
5watching and purchasing in the financial markets; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Charles Greenway was preceded in death by his
7parents; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Charles Greenway is survived by his wife of 57
9years, Bettie; his children, Tom (Teresa) Greenway, Debra (Tom)
10Packley, and Patrick (Christie) Greenway; his grandchildren,
11Jacob Packley and Deana Packley (fiance Rafael), and David,
12Alex, Ryan, and Ian Greenway; and his brother, Gerald Greenway
13(Helga Legler); therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Charles T. "Chuck" Greenway, and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Charles Greenway as an expression of
21our deepest sympathy.
