SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Merle Emery of Bunker Hill, who passed away on May 10, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Merle Emery was born in Bunker Hill to John Wesley and Frances Marie (Maxwell) Emery on July 7, 1932; he married Charlotte Ann Sneeringer at the Bunker Hill Baptist Parsonage on April 6, 1951; he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, Merle Emery worked as a truck driver; and

WHEREAS, Merle Emery was a Deacon at the First Assembly of God Church in Bunker Hill for 21 years; and

WHEREAS, Merle Emery was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, JW Emery and Lyle Emery; and

WHEREAS, Merle Emery is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his son, Scott Emery; his grandchildren, Eric Wayne Emery and Nick Emery; his three siblings, Dean Emery, William Emery, and Shirley Shultz; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Merle Emery, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Merle Emery as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
