SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alfretta M. Alford of Godfrey, who passed away on August 2, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Alfretta Alford was born on June 7, 1921 in Minooka; her parents were Otto and Ruth (Jones) Heap; she married Myron Alford on August 23, 1941 in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Alfretta Alford was employed as a nurse at Alton Memorial Hospital for many years; and

WHEREAS, Alfretta Alford was a longtime member of 12th Street Presbyterian Church, the firefighter auxiliary, and the Quilting Guild; and

WHEREAS, Alfretta Alford was an accomplished musician and enjoyed playing the organ; she also enjoyed serving as a foster parent to infants, knitting and crocheting, and collecting dolls; and

WHEREAS, Alfretta Alford was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Alford; her brothers, Bill and Duane Heap; and her sister, Barbara Heap; and

WHEREAS, Alfretta Alford is survived by her children, Ronald Alford, Rodney (Marilyn) Alford, Richard (Chris) Alford, Dennis (Debbie) Alford, Nannette (Steven) White, and Susan (Rick) Kessinger; her 17 grandchildren; her 24 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Norma Snyder; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Alfretta M. Alford; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Alfretta Alford as an expression of our sympathy.
