SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Ralph Baahlmann Sr. of Godfrey, who passed away on December 25, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Baahlmann was born on September 26, 1924, in Aviston to Henry and Frances (Renschen) Baahlmann; he became a registered nurse and worked his way through dental school at St. Louis University School of Dentistry; he served in the Korean War and he married Virginia "Ginny" Gangloff on June 14, 1952; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Baahlmann built a dental practice in Alton and served the community until his retirement in 1996; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Baahlmann was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Godfrey, was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a member of Lockhaven Country Club; he served on the board of directors of St. Anthony's Hospital and served on the Illinois State Board of Examiners for Dentistry; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Baahlmann is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Ralph H. Baahlmann Jr., Mark G. Baahlmann, Barbara M. Boyd (Dr. Tobin Boyd), Matthew L. Baahlmann (Teri), Nancy E. Reese (Tom), and John L. Baahlmann (Nancy); his grandchildren, Matthew and Jill Baahlmann, Matthew Korte and Kortney, Nick Korte, Christopher and Megan Springman, Grace and Jacob Reese, and Ashley Kaid (Anthony); and his great-grandchildren, Keagan Korte and Haylee Kaid; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dr. Baahlmann, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Baahlmann as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
