SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William W. "Willie" Irons, Jr. of Oak Park, who passed away on June 29, 2014; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. was born on April 12, 1947 in Moberly, Missouri; his parents were William W., Sr. and Jean Irons; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. served his country as a member of the United States Army in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. was a graduate of Decatur Eisenhower High School; he subsequently attended Columbia College, where he studied photography, and the Coyne Institute, where he learned the HVAC trade; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. worked in the maintenance department at Oak Park and River Forest High Schools for 23 years until his retirement in 2002; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. was a member of the 5th Army Band and played flute, piccolo, and saxophone; he also played in a number of local ensembles, including the West Suburban Community Band; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. was an avid reader, modeler, machinist, and photographer; he was also a lover of old-time radio shows; and

WHEREAS, William Irons, Jr. is survived by his wife, Mary Rose "Mitzi" (nee Jamnik); his brother, James (Jonetta); his brother-in-law, Yanez Jamnik; and his nieces and nephews, Jonathan (fiancee, Allison Mickel) Irons, Joseph Irons, Karolena Jamnik, Justyna (Dan) Melehan, and Jason (Danielle) Jamnik; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of William W. "Willie" Irons, Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Irons, Jr. as an expression of our sympathy.
