SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Raulin "Sonny" Wight, past president and CEO of Wight & Company, who passed away on August 21, 2010; and

WHEREAS, He was born November 29, 1923, in Elgin and was a lifelong resident of Downers Grove; and

WHEREAS, He was a 1941 graduate of Downers Grove High School; he served as an instructor in the United States Army at the end of World War II; he later received his bachelors degree in architecture from the University of Nebraska; and

WHEREAS, He was very proud of his relationships with the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and Pepperidge Farm, and of his role as a director of the Downers Grove National Bank; and

WHEREAS, He served as president of Wight & Company until the late 1980s, and he will be remembered most for his work at Triton Community College and at the College of DuPage where, under his tenure, the firm designed the Harold McAninch Fine Arts Center and the Physical Education Center; and

WHEREAS, Raulin Wight Jr. is survived by his wife and childhood sweetheart, Lois; his daughter, Jill Ann Breedlove; his son, Mark; his brother, George; his sisters, Nancy Reimers and Jane; and his two grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Raulin Wight Jr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Raulin B. "Sonny" Wight Jr. as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
