SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Raulin "Sonny" Wight, past president and
4CEO of Wight & Company, who passed away on August 21, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, He was born November 29, 1923, in Elgin and was a
6lifelong resident of Downers Grove; and
 
7    WHEREAS, He was a 1941 graduate of Downers Grove High
8School; he served as an instructor in the United States Army at
9the end of World War II; he later received his bachelors degree
10in architecture from the University of Nebraska; and
 
11    WHEREAS, He was very proud of his relationships with the
12Illinois State Toll Highway Authority and Pepperidge Farm, and
13of his role as a director of the Downers Grove National Bank;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, He served as president of Wight & Company until
16the late 1980s, and he will be remembered most for his work at
17Triton Community College and at the College of DuPage where,
18under his tenure, the firm designed the Harold McAninch Fine
19Arts Center and the Physical Education Center; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Raulin Wight Jr. is survived by his wife and

1childhood sweetheart, Lois; his daughter, Jill Ann Breedlove;
2his son, Mark; his brother, George; his sisters, Nancy Reimers
3and Jane; and his two grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
6his family and friends, the passing of Raulin Wight Jr.; and be
7it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Raulin B. "Sonny" Wight Jr. as a
10symbol of our sincere sympathy.
