SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Christopher J. Antonik, of San Clemente, California, formerly of Crystal Lake, who was killed in the line of duty in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on July 11, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Christopher J. Antonik was born May 4, 1981, in Chicago, to John and Cindy Antonik; and

WHEREAS, He was united in marriage to Erin Gilbert on December 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, For more than nine years, he proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Alex Antonik; and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Shaw; and

WHEREAS, United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Christopher J. Antonik is survived by his beloved wife, Erin Antonik; his devoted parents, John and Cindy Antonik; his dear sister, Jen (Ken) Bond; his adoring nieces and nephews, Kylie and Xander Bond and Jack and Alexa Farmer; his cherished grandma, Florence Antonik; and his special friend, Chase; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family, friends, and a grateful nation, the passing of Staff Sergeant Christopher Antonik; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Staff Sergeant Christopher J. Antonik and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Staff Sergeant Christopher J. Antonik as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
