SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Carol Irene (Roy) Roach, who passed away on July 20, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Carol Roach was born on August 28, 1926, in Chicago; she was the daughter of August and Irene (Payse) Roy; she married John Thomas Roach at Our Savior Church in Jacksonville on December 29, 1947; and

WHEREAS, Carol Roach earned her bachelor's degree in speech pathology and audiology from MacMurray College in Jacksonville and her master's degree in speech pathology and audiology from the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Carol Roach was employed as a speech pathologist and teacher prior to her career as a case manager with the Division of Specialized Care for Children at the University of Illinois of Chicago, where she worked until her retirement in 2008 at the age of 82; and

WHEREAS, Carol Roach was active in the Junior Service League, the Alton Children's Theatre, and the Easter Seals Society; she was also a longtime board member for the William BeDell ARC and a member of St. Mary's Parish in Alton for 58 years; and

WHEREAS, Carol Roach was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother, Dr. Jack Roy; and

WHEREAS, Carol Roach is survived by her children and their spouses, Cheri and Don Spillman, Kevin Roach and his wife, Niamh Ring, John Michael "Mike" Roach, Brian and Barbra Roach, John Thomas "Chip" and Tammy Roach, Steven Roach, Patrick and Shelly Roach, Michelle Roach, and Todd Roach and Deborah Kardane; her grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Travis, Ryan, Oscar, Katie, Anna, Dillon, Regan, Jennifer, Shaun, Gabrielle, Taylor, Cassidy, Brynn, Andrya, Max, Aria, Isaac, and Jordan; her 7 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dr. Edward Roy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Carol Irene Roach; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Carol Roach as an expression of our sympathy.
