SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Carol Irene (Roy) Roach, who passed away
4on July 20, 2010; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Carol Roach was born on August 28, 1926, in
6Chicago; she was the daughter of August and Irene (Payse) Roy;
7she married John Thomas Roach at Our Savior Church in
8Jacksonville on December 29, 1947; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Carol Roach earned her bachelor's degree in speech
10pathology and audiology from MacMurray College in Jacksonville
11and her master's degree in speech pathology and audiology from
12the University of Illinois; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Carol Roach was employed as a speech pathologist
14and teacher prior to her career as a case manager with the
15Division of Specialized Care for Children at the University of
16Illinois of Chicago, where she worked until her retirement in
172008 at the age of 82; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Carol Roach was active in the Junior Service
19League, the Alton Children's Theatre, and the Easter Seals
20Society; she was also a longtime board member for the William
21BeDell ARC and a member of St. Mary's Parish in Alton for 58

1years; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Carol Roach was preceded in death by her parents,
3her husband, and her brother, Dr. Jack Roy; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Carol Roach is survived by her children and their
5spouses, Cheri and Don Spillman, Kevin Roach and his wife,
6Niamh Ring, John Michael "Mike" Roach, Brian and Barbra Roach,
7John Thomas "Chip" and Tammy Roach, Steven Roach, Patrick and
8Shelly Roach, Michelle Roach, and Todd Roach and Deborah
9Kardane; her grandchildren, Justin, Nathan, Travis, Ryan,
10Oscar, Katie, Anna, Dillon, Regan, Jennifer, Shaun, Gabrielle,
11Taylor, Cassidy, Brynn, Andrya, Max, Aria, Isaac, and Jordan;
12her 7 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Dr. Edward Roy;
13therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
16his family and friends, the passing of Carol Irene Roach; and
17be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Carol Roach as an expression of our
20sympathy.
