SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leatrice E. Hall, who passed away on April 10, 2010; and

WHEREAS, Leatrice Hall was born on April 18, 1953, in Chicago; her parents were Fletcher C. and Elizabeth Hall; and

WHEREAS, Leatrice Hall grew up in the Chicago neighborhood of Bronzeville; she attended Wendell Phillips and Dunbar High Schools and Kennedy King College; and

WHEREAS, Leatrice Hall had a long and distinguished career in child care; she began as a babysitter for her first niece, Zena, then began her formal career of serving children at the Augustana Children's Home on Chicago's north side; for over 5 years, she helped to take care of children with special needs and engaged them in different activities; she subsequently worked at several other home day care providers, then cared for children full-time at her home; she also worked at the W.W. Vincent Insurance Company of America, the American States Insurance Company, and the City of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Leatrice Hall accepted Christ at an early age; she formally became a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in 2002 after fellowshipping with her family at Trinity for over 15 years; she worked in the church's Food Share Ministry for many years; and

WHEREAS, Leatrice Hall was preceded in death by her sister, Karen; her uncle, Johnny; and her grandmother, Sarah Mae Leslie; and

WHEREAS, Leatrice Hall is survived by her parents; her son, Steve Aric Hall; her daughter-in-law, Gene' Charlese Hall; her granddaughters, Amaya and Malia; her brothers, Zachary E. Hall (Kendrea) and Fletcher A. Hall; her sisters, Diane Livingston, Sandra Hall, and Yolanda Hall; her nieces, Zena Beach (Kip), Cherise, Cara, Karen, and Erika; her nephews, Fletcher A. Hall III, Tremayne (Tanya), and Kenneth; her great-nieces, Blake Bowie and Nia; her great-nephews, Zachary, Nicholas, Kendell, Keadon, and Isaac; her aunts, Mary Freeman and Mildred Williams; her uncle, Odell Moody; and her many cousins, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Leatrice E. Hall; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leatrice Hall as an expression of our sympathy.
