SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Azalea "Alice" Kemppainen of Round Lake Beach, who passed away on January 27, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Azalea Kemppainen was born on July 29, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan; her parents were Stanley and Katherine (Galan) Skrzypek; she married Roy M. Kemppainen in DeKalb on July 15, 1967; and

WHEREAS, Azalea Kemppainen was a resident of Round Lake Beach for 36 years; she was employed as a lab technician at Baxter for over 25 years until her retirement in 2003; and

WHEREAS, Azalea Kemppainen was a member of the Finnish Heritage Museum of Fairport Harbor, Ohio and the Finnish Society of the Midwest in St. Charles; she was also a very active member of the Round Lake Area Seniors and enjoyed attending the Baxter retirees luncheons; and

WHEREAS, Azalea Kemppainen was well known as a great cook; her favorite pastime was sewing and she had just started quilting; and

WHEREAS, Azalea Kemppainen was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Azalea Kemppainen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Roy; her sons, Scott (Luz) Kemppainen and Dale (Kimberly) Kemppainen; and her grandchildren, Ryan, Tara, and Krystal; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Azalea "Alice" Kemppainen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Azalea Kemppainen as an expression of our sympathy.
