SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant Robert M. Weinger of Round Lake Beach, who gave his life to his country in the Nangarhar Province of Eastern Afghanistan on March 15, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He was born in Libertyville on December 22, 1984; he enlisted in the United States Army on January 12, 2006, as an 11B, Infantryman; and

WHEREAS, He enlisted with A Company, 1st Battalion,178th Infantry Chicago; Sergeant Weinger completed Army Basic Training and Infantry School at Ft. Benning, Georgia; he volunteered for his second tour of duty and was mobilized with the 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry, and deployed to Afghanistan on August 21, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was a lifelong resident of Round Lake Beach, graduating from Round Lake Beach High School in 2003; he loved sports, playing soccer and wrestling on the Round Lake Panthers team; he was never afraid to show his silly side, keeping up the morale of his friends at home as well as his comrades in Iraq and Afghanistan; he was an avid White Sox and Bears fan and loved to hunt with his father; and

WHEREAS, He loved life, his friends and family, and was loved in return; he was known to be everyone's friend, always making people laugh with his antics; and

WHEREAS, Robert Weinger leaves the love of his life, Tanya Colatorti; Robert was the loving son of Howard and Susan; the dear brother of Paul; the cherished grandson of Mary and the late Ira Weinger, and James and the late Patricia King; the fond nephew of Murray (Kathy) and Holly Weinger, Deborah and Victoria King, and Diana (Thomas) Johnston; the best friend of Jack Pryde and Bill Coots; a special cousin to many; a loyal friend; a proud soldier; and he also leaves his faithful dog, Bear; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of United States Army Sergeant Robert Weinger; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Robert M. Weinger and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sergeant Robert Weinger as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
