SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of United States Army Sergeant Robert M.
4 Weinger of Round Lake Beach, who gave his life to his country
5 in the Nangarhar Province of Eastern Afghanistan on March 15,
6 2009; and
 
7     WHEREAS, He was born in Libertyville on December 22, 1984;
8 he enlisted in the United States Army on January 12, 2006, as
9 an 11B, Infantryman; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He enlisted with A Company, 1st Battalion,178th
11 Infantry Chicago; Sergeant Weinger completed Army Basic
12 Training and Infantry School at Ft. Benning, Georgia; he
13 volunteered for his second tour of duty and was mobilized with
14 the 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry, and deployed to Afghanistan
15 on August 21, 2008; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He was a lifelong resident of Round Lake Beach,
17 graduating from Round Lake Beach High School in 2003; he loved
18 sports, playing soccer and wrestling on the Round Lake Panthers
19 team; he was never afraid to show his silly side, keeping up
20 the morale of his friends at home as well as his comrades in
21 Iraq and Afghanistan; he was an avid White Sox and Bears fan
22 and loved to hunt with his father; and

1     WHEREAS, He loved life, his friends and family, and was
2 loved in return; he was known to be everyone's friend, always
3 making people laugh with his antics; and
 
4     WHEREAS, Robert Weinger leaves the love of his life, Tanya
5 Colatorti; Robert was the loving son of Howard and Susan; the
6 dear brother of Paul; the cherished grandson of Mary and the
7 late Ira Weinger, and James and the late Patricia King; the
8 fond nephew of Murray (Kathy) and Holly Weinger, Deborah and
9 Victoria King, and Diana (Thomas) Johnston; the best friend of
10 Jack Pryde and Bill Coots; a special cousin to many; a loyal
11 friend; a proud soldier; and he also leaves his faithful dog,
12 Bear; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 his family and friends, the passing of United States Army
16 Sergeant Robert Weinger; and be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Sergeant Robert M.
18 Weinger and his willingness to serve his country, which led to
19 him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
20     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21 presented to the family of Sergeant Robert Weinger as a symbol
