SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles E. Blackman of River Forest, who passed away on February 12, 2009; and

WHEREAS, Charles E. Blackman was born in Kirkwood, Missouri on February 10, 1924 to Hays and Mary Elizabeth Blackman; he was raised in Beaumont, Texas, where he graduated from Beaumont High School; and

WHEREAS, He served five years in the United States Navy during World War II as a 1st Class machinist mate; he was employed with Kraft Foods for 35 years until his retirement in 1984; and

WHEREAS, He was a 62-year resident of River Forest; he enjoyed golfing, bowling, and going to the fitness center at Gottlieb Hospital; he was a great handyman, and was always willing to help out family and friends who needed help fixing anything and everything that needed fixing; he was an active grandpa, and he loved to wrestle with his grandsons, even into his 70s; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan Mary Blackman; and

WHEREAS, Charles Blackman is survived by his wife, Corinne A. (nee Stoll); his children, Charles E. Jr. (Luanne Ellison), Mark (Jane), and Nancy (Stephen) Lukasik; his seven grandchildren; and his great-grandchild; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Charles Blackman; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles Blackman as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
