SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Charles E. Blackman of River Forest, who
4 passed away on February 12, 2009; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Charles E. Blackman was born in Kirkwood, Missouri
6 on February 10, 1924 to Hays and Mary Elizabeth Blackman; he
7 was raised in Beaumont, Texas, where he graduated from Beaumont
8 High School; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He served five years in the United States Navy
10 during World War II as a 1st Class machinist mate; he was
11 employed with Kraft Foods for 35 years until his retirement in
12 1984; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He was a 62-year resident of River Forest; he
14 enjoyed golfing, bowling, and going to the fitness center at
15 Gottlieb Hospital; he was a great handyman, and was always
16 willing to help out family and friends who needed help fixing
17 anything and everything that needed fixing; he was an active
18 grandpa, and he loved to wrestle with his grandsons, even into
19 his 70s; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joan
21 Mary Blackman; and

1     WHEREAS, Charles Blackman is survived by his wife, Corinne
2 A. (nee Stoll); his children, Charles E. Jr. (Luanne Ellison),
3 Mark (Jane), and Nancy (Stephen) Lukasik; his seven
4 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
7 his family and friends, the passing of Charles Blackman; and be
8 it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Charles Blackman as a symbol of our
11 sincere sympathy.
