HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives have learned that a resident of the State of Illinois, through sad and tragic circumstances, has earned an important distinction and will be appropriately honored in the near future; and

WHEREAS, We are deeply disturbed to see a life full of promise suddenly snapped closed; while we remember and reflect on the inspirational life of 22 year-old Ryan Rendleman, who became the victim of a traffic accident last spring while on the way to a photo assignment in Southern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, This native of Batavia and honors graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale touched many lives through his giving personality, abundant talent, and devotion to his faith; and

WHEREAS, His creativity as a photojournalist was matched with a passion to help fellow students, learn from faculty and staff at the Daily Egyptian, and speak candidly when he detected shortcomings; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives takes this opportunity to salute the decision to add his name to the Journalists Memorial at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. on March 30, 2009; and

WHEREAS, He becomes the first collegiate journalist to be included with over 1,900 fellow professionals from around the world who have lost their lives while gathering news; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ryan Rendleman and recognize his outstanding contributions that have made Illinois a better place for all its citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Ryan Rendleman and the Southern Illinois University in Carbondale as symbols of our sincere sympathy.
