HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives have learned that a resident of the State of
4 Illinois, through sad and tragic circumstances, has earned an
5 important distinction and will be appropriately honored in the
6 near future; and
 
7     WHEREAS, We are deeply disturbed to see a life full of
8 promise suddenly snapped closed; while we remember and reflect
9 on the inspirational life of 22 year-old Ryan Rendleman, who
10 became the victim of a traffic accident last spring while on
11 the way to a photo assignment in Southern Illinois; and
 
12     WHEREAS, This native of Batavia and honors graduate of
13 Southern Illinois University in Carbondale touched many lives
14 through his giving personality, abundant talent, and devotion
15 to his faith; and
 
16     WHEREAS, His creativity as a photojournalist was matched
17 with a passion to help fellow students, learn from faculty and
18 staff at the Daily Egyptian, and speak candidly when he
19 detected shortcomings; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The Illinois House of Representatives takes this
21 opportunity to salute the decision to add his name to the

1 Journalists Memorial at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. on
2 March 30, 2009; and
 
3     WHEREAS, He becomes the first collegiate journalist to be
4 included with over 1,900 fellow professionals from around the
5 world who have lost their lives while gathering news;
6 therefore, be it
 
7     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
9 extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ryan
10 Rendleman and recognize his outstanding contributions that
11 have made Illinois a better place for all its citizens; and be
12 it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
14 presented to the family of Ryan Rendleman and the Southern
15 Illinois University in Carbondale as symbols of our sincere
16 sympathy.
