SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Theodore "Theo" Stephens of Dolton, who passed away on December 11, 2007; and

WHEREAS, He was born on July 28, 1950 in Phenix City, Alabama, the son of Robert and Frankie (Jackson) Stephens; on July 13, 1985 he married Ann Mayden; and

WHEREAS, Theo Stephens worked at Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission and was due to retire at the end of 2007 after twenty-nine years of service; he was a graduate of Fort Valley State University, where he majored in music; and

WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1976 and played saxophone with the military band; and

WHEREAS, He loved sports and playing his saxophone; he was a member of Logos Baptist Assembly in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Theodore "Theo" Stephens will be deeply felt by those who knew and loved him, especially his wife, Ann (Mayden) Stephens; his daughter, Donna (Jamal) Rochelle; his grandson, Dontae Rochelle; his mother, Frankie Stephens; his sisters, Christine Walker and Betty Brown; and his brothers, Albert and James Stephens; he was preceded in death by his father, Robert Stephens; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Theodore "Theo" Stephens; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Theodore Stephens as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
