SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Theodore "Theo" Stephens of Dolton, who
4 passed away on December 11, 2007; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on July 28, 1950 in Phenix City,
6 Alabama, the son of Robert and Frankie (Jackson) Stephens; on
7 July 13, 1985 he married Ann Mayden; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Theo Stephens worked at Illinois Workers'
9 Compensation Commission and was due to retire at the end of
10 2007 after twenty-nine years of service; he was a graduate of
11 Fort Valley State University, where he majored in music; and
 
12     WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army from 1974 to
13 1976 and played saxophone with the military band; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He loved sports and playing his saxophone; he was
15 a member of Logos Baptist Assembly in Chicago; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The passing of Theodore "Theo" Stephens will be
17 deeply felt by those who knew and loved him, especially his
18 wife, Ann (Mayden) Stephens; his daughter, Donna (Jamal)
19 Rochelle; his grandson, Dontae Rochelle; his mother, Frankie
20 Stephens; his sisters, Christine Walker and Betty Brown; and

1 his brothers, Albert and James Stephens; he was preceded in
2 death by his father, Robert Stephens; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
5 his family and friends, the passing of Theodore "Theo"
6 Stephens; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to the family of Theodore Stephens as a symbol of our
9 sincere sympathy.
