SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to hear of the death of Sister Mary Barbara Loxterkamp of Alton, who passed away on October 31, 2007, fortified with the Sacraments of the Holy Mother Church; and

WHEREAS, Sister M. Barbara Loxterkamp, F.S. G. M., baptized Agnes Loxterkamp, was born on March 16, 1920 in Kettenkamp, Germany; she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George on March 7, 1953 and professed her first vows on September 17, 1955; she professed her final vows on September 16, 1959 and celebrated her Golden Jubilee in 2004; and

WHEREAS, Her missions included: St. Anthony's Health Center in Alton from September 18, 1955 to April 14, 1985 in nursing; Marian Heights Apartments in Alton from April 15, 1985 to September 14, 1989 in nursing; Pope John Paul I Apartments in Springfield from September 15, 1989 to October 10, 2000 working with the elderly and nursing as needed; and from October 11, 2000 until the present as an Adoration Sister in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Sister Loxterkamp is survived by one sister, Mrs. Irma Redder; her three sisters-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Loxterkamp, Mrs. Maria Loxterkamp, and Mrs. Maria Loxterkamp; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Sister Mary Barbara Loxterkamp; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sister Mary Barbara Loxterkamp as a symbol of our sympathy.
