SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Russell Whitworth of Glen Carbon, who passed away on April 17, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Russell Whitworth was born on September 23, 1921 in Briscoe, Missouri; his parents were Thomas and Lillian Whitworth; he married Patricia Dolan on October 12, 1957 in Clayton, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Whitworth was a World War II U.S. Army veteran; he moved from Hazelwood, Missouri to Glen Carbon in 1968; he was a member of Illinois Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Foundation, the Horseman's Benevolent and Protective Association, and has enjoyed bowling with his friends since 1968; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Whitworth was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lillian, nee Strother, Whitworth; his brothers, Delmer Eugene and Atholl Alexander Whitworth; and his sister, Janet; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Whitworth is survived by his wife, Patricia, nee Dolan, Whitworth; his sons, Russell (Susan) Whitworth and Stephen (Jill) Whitworth; his daughter, Maryanne (John) Barkley; his grandchildren, Thomas Rex Whitworth, Lillian Grace Barkley and Marci Dominguez; his great-grandchildren, Michael and Jacob Plumlee; and his six brothers, James T. Whitworth, Harry A. (Patricia) Whitworth, Richard S. Whitworth, William Joseph (Patricia) Whitworth, Sidney (Gale) Whitworth, and Howard Donald (Betty) Whitworth; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Russell Whitworth; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the family of Russell Whitworth as an expression of our sympathy.
