HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bethalto Fire Chief John Nolte on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, John Nolte was born and raised in Bethalto; he served in the United States Navy for 4 years; and

WHEREAS, After a 30-year career at the all volunteer fire department, Chief Nolte has made the decision to retire; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Bethalto Fire Department in June of 1976 and was one of the first fire and arson investigators for the department; he became chief on June 5, 1989; and

WHEREAS, Chief Nolte has been instrumental in implementing training for the department including computer training and CPR training; as chief, he has maintained a crew of 35 volunteer firefighters and there is a waiting list of people wishing to become a part of the department; the department averages over 9,000 volunteer training hours, over 4,000 hours of work detail, and over 4,500 meeting hours per year; and

WHEREAS, Though he is retiring, he will still participate in fund raising and other related events with the fire department; Chief Nolte and his wife Sharon have three children, Shawn, Jeremy, and Amy, and five grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bethalto Fire Chief John Nolte on his retirement and wish him continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Fire Chief John Nolte as a symbol of our esteem.
