HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bethalto Fire
4 Chief John Nolte on his retirement; and
 
5     WHEREAS, John Nolte was born and raised in Bethalto; he
6 served in the United States Navy for 4 years; and
 
7     WHEREAS, After a 30-year career at the all volunteer fire
8 department, Chief Nolte has made the decision to retire; and
 
9     WHEREAS, He joined the Bethalto Fire Department in June of
10 1976 and was one of the first fire and arson investigators for
11 the department; he became chief on June 5, 1989; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Chief Nolte has been instrumental in implementing
13 training for the department including computer training and CPR
14 training; as chief, he has maintained a crew of 35 volunteer
15 firefighters and there is a waiting list of people wishing to
16 become a part of the department; the department averages over
17 9,000 volunteer training hours, over 4,000 hours of work
18 detail, and over 4,500 meeting hours per year; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Though he is retiring, he will still participate
20 in fund raising and other related events with the fire

1 department; Chief Nolte and his wife Sharon have three
2 children, Shawn, Jeremy, and Amy, and five grandchildren;
3 therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate Bethalto Fire Chief John Nolte on his retirement
7 and wish him continued success in the future; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Fire Chief John Nolte as a symbol of our esteem.
