SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George Joseph Mushro Jr., who passed away on November 25, 2023; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro was born to George Joseph Mushro Sr. and Vera Ann (Attalla) Mushro in Joliet on June 6, 1943; he graduated from Lockport Township High School in 1961; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro worked as an independent insurance agent for Farmers Insurance; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro served as a trustee and clerk for the Lockport Township Government Board for over 35 years; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro was an active member in many civic organizations; he served as chairman of the Will County Democratic Central Committee and as a precinct committeemen and treasurer for the Lockport Township Democratic Organization Board; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Fort Myers, Florida and a lifelong member of the Loyal Order of the Moose; he was also an avid golfer; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro was a generous soul who always helped others; he will be remembered as a devoted husband, a wise and trusted father and grandfather, a supportive brother, and a compassionate friend; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, George Mushro is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon (May) Mushro; his children, Jeffrey D. Mushro and Bartholomew J. (Carollyn) Mushro; his stepchildren, Kimberly D. Downs and Sandy L. Broadway; his grandchildren, Jared, Logan, Hayden, Blake, Nicolette, Chandler, Giselle, George, Kiersten, Ashley, Katie, and Amber; his great-grandchildren, James, Madison, Mason, Mackenzie, and Emberly; his siblings, Lois LaBarre, Carol (the late Kenneth) Almond, Russell (Judy) Mushro, Miriam (Jim) Abraham, and Denise (former spouse, the late Pat) Mushro Rumchak; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George Joseph Mushro Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Mushro as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
