SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Donald F. Niebuhr of Williamsfield on Saturday, March 25, 2006; and

WHEREAS, He was born on September 22, 1928, in Williamsfield to Herman W. and Eleanor "Lula" Dimmick Niebuhr; he was reared and educated in Williamsfield and graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1946; he married Rose E. Wagher on September 23, 1955, in Galesburg; and

WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from July 20, 1948, to July 1, 1952, with the 1911th AACS Squadron; and

WHEREAS, He worked as a mechanic for Wight Chevrolet in Williamsfield, and after serving in the military, he worked for Admiral in Galesburg, retiring as a foreman in 1990; and

WHEREAS, He enjoyed mushrooming, camping, fishing, and arrowhead hunting; he was a fan of the ROWVA, Williamsfield and Kewanee girls and boys sports, where his grandchildren participated; he was a member of the Williamsfield American Legion Post, a lifetime member of Little John Conservation, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Williamsfield; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Donald F. Niebuhr has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Rose; his son, Mark (Rita) Niebuhr; his daughters, Nancy Niebuhr, Lynn (Michael) VanHyfte, Betsy Colclasure, and Shelley (Pierre) Ponce; his grandchildren, Brandy, Jamie, Nikki, and Samantha Ponce, Erik and Megan VanHyfte, Cody, Corey, and Lindsey Niebuhr, and Nathaniel Niebuhr; his great-granddaughters, Mia and Bella Voss; his sister, Edith (Edward) Branchfield; and his many nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Rose; his parents; and his brothers, Weldon and Paul; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald F. Niebuhr, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
