SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Donald F. Niebuhr of
4 Williamsfield on Saturday, March 25, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, He was born on September 22, 1928, in
6 Williamsfield to Herman W. and Eleanor "Lula" Dimmick Niebuhr;
7 he was reared and educated in Williamsfield and graduated from
8 Williamsfield High School in 1946; he married Rose E. Wagher on
9 September 23, 1955, in Galesburg; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He valiantly served his country as a member of the
11 United States Air Force from July 20, 1948, to July 1, 1952,
12 with the 1911th AACS Squadron; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He worked as a mechanic for Wight Chevrolet in
14 Williamsfield, and after serving in the military, he worked for
15 Admiral in Galesburg, retiring as a foreman in 1990; and
 
16     WHEREAS, He enjoyed mushrooming, camping, fishing, and
17 arrowhead hunting; he was a fan of the ROWVA, Williamsfield and
18 Kewanee girls and boys sports, where his grandchildren
19 participated; he was a member of the Williamsfield American
20 Legion Post, a lifetime member of Little John Conservation, and
21 a member of the United Methodist Church in Williamsfield; and
 
22     WHEREAS, The passing of Donald F. Niebuhr has been deeply
23 felt by many, especially his wife, Rose; his son, Mark (Rita)
24 Niebuhr; his daughters, Nancy Niebuhr, Lynn (Michael)
25 VanHyfte, Betsy Colclasure, and Shelley (Pierre) Ponce; his
26 grandchildren, Brandy, Jamie, Nikki, and Samantha Ponce, Erik
27 and Megan VanHyfte, Cody, Corey, and Lindsey Niebuhr, and
28 Nathaniel Niebuhr; his great-granddaughters, Mia and Bella
29 Voss; his sister, Edith (Edward) Branchfield; and his many
30 nieces and nephews; he was preceded in death by his daughter,

1 Susan Rose; his parents; and his brothers, Weldon and Paul;
2 therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5 Donald F. Niebuhr, and we extend our sincere condolences to his
6 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7 further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to his family as an expression of our deepest
10 sympathy.
