SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Leroy J. Ducksworth of Fairview Heights on August 13, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ducksworth was born February 9, 1922, in East St. Louis; he was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and had attained the rank of staff sergeant while in the service from 1942 to 1946; and

WHEREAS, He was a retired superintendent of East St. Louis School District 189; he was also a former assistant principal and principal of East St. Louis Senior High School; he had also taught at Monroe Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; Southern Cross Masonic Lodge 112 Pricne Hall; Tyree Consistory 64, Aahmes Temple 132; and Grand Inspector General; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Annie L., nee Taggart, Ducksworth; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Leroy Ducksworth is felt by all who knew and loved him, especially his nieces and nephews, Barbara J. Good, Carolyn (Eddie Sr.) Cook, Janet M. (Alphonso Sr.) Williams, Erickson L. (Carolyn) Ducksworth, Muriel (Michael Sr.) Williams, Pamela L. Ducksworth, Denise D. Ducksworth, Daryl Ducksworth, Doris J. (John) Watson, Karen C. Coleman, Richard (Linda) Ducksworth, Ann M. Murray, and William Ducksworth; and a host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leroy J. Ducksworth and extend our sincerest condolences to his family, friends, and community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
