SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Donald R. Grieves of Peoria on Thursday, August 4, 2005; and

WHEREAS, He was born on February 5, 1929, in Peoria to George P. and Edna Curtis Grieves; he married Valeria Pratt on October 23, 1954, in Kickapoo; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Grieves valiantly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II; he was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Navy Club; and

WHEREAS, A sales engineer at Reliance Electric for 25 years, he retired in 199l; he served on the Peoria County Board of Review and was a member of the St. Patrick's Society; and

WHEREAS, He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 427 Third Degree Spalding Council, and 206 Fourth Degree Spalding Assembly; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Donald R. Grieves has been deeply felt by many, especially his wife, Valeria; his sons, Timothy (and Deb), Christopher (and Bonnie), and Danny (and Kim); his daughters, Cheryl (and Bob) Ducharme, Kathleen (and Earl) Harvill, and Joanie (and Ben) Manibog; and his 20 grandchildren; he was preceded in death by two brothers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Donald R. Grieves, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
