HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to congratulate Richard Francis Prendergast, formerly an esteemed resident of Evergreen Park for over 30 years, on the occasion of the celebration of his 80th birthday on January 15, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Prendergast was born in Chicago in 1925, the son of Anthony and Ellen Prendergast, emigrants from County Mayo, Ireland, and brother to Mary, John, Tom, and Jim; he presently resides in Orland Park; and

WHEREAS, He was a 1939 graduate of Little Flower Grammar School and a 1943 graduate of Leo High School; he was a U.S. Marine and World War II veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945; and

WHEREAS, He graduated from DePaul University, was certified as a Certified Public Accountant, and later graduated from DePaul University Law School; and

WHEREAS, He was employed by the Chicago public accounting firm of Murphy, Lanier & Quinn, and had advanced to the position of Senior Partner; and

WHEREAS, He married Dorothy Caraher on October 28, 1961; he is the father of three children, Maria, Ellen, and Richard, and the loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, He was a parishioner of Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church for over 30 years and is a current parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; and

WHEREAS, He is known throughout Chicago for his philanthropy; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to Richard Francis Prendergast on the occasion of his 80th birthday; that we commend him for achieving a long and fulfilling life, and we wish him continued happiness and good health in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Richard Francis Prendergast as an expression of our respect and esteem.
