HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to congratulate
4 Richard Francis Prendergast, formerly an esteemed resident of
5 Evergreen Park for over 30 years, on the occasion of the
6 celebration of his 80th birthday on January 15, 2005; and
 
7     WHEREAS, Mr. Prendergast was born in Chicago in 1925, the
8 son of Anthony and Ellen Prendergast, emigrants from County
9 Mayo, Ireland, and brother to Mary, John, Tom, and Jim; he
10 presently resides in Orland Park; and
 
11     WHEREAS, He was a 1939 graduate of Little Flower Grammar
12 School and a 1943 graduate of Leo High School; he was a U.S.
13 Marine and World War II veteran, serving from 1943 to 1945; and
 
14     WHEREAS, He graduated from DePaul University, was
15 certified as a Certified Public Accountant, and later graduated
16 from DePaul University Law School; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He was employed by the Chicago public accounting
18 firm of Murphy, Lanier & Quinn, and had advanced to the
19 position of Senior Partner; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He married Dorothy Caraher on October 28, 1961; he
21 is the father of three children, Maria, Ellen, and Richard, and
22 the loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren; and
 
23     WHEREAS, He was a parishioner of Queen of Martyrs Catholic
24 Church for over 30 years and is a current parishioner of St.
25 Francis of Assisi Catholic Church; and
 
26     WHEREAS, He is known throughout Chicago for his
27 philanthropy; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3 we extend our heartiest congratulations and best wishes to
4 Richard Francis Prendergast on the occasion of his 80th
5 birthday; that we commend him for achieving a long and
6 fulfilling life, and we wish him continued happiness and good
7 health in the future; and be it further
 
8     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Richard Francis Prendergast as an expression of
10 our respect and esteem.
