HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Richard R. "Rick" Payne, who passed away on April 2, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Rick Payne was born on October 11, 1951; he attended Haugan Elementary School and Lane Technical High School; he married Susan Mason on March 22, 1980; and

WHEREAS, Rick Payne was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 134; and

WHEREAS, Rick Payne truly lived life to the fullest; he loved his family, his dogs, traveling, golf, riding his motorcycle, and talking to anyone he met; he also loved to watch old westerns and listen to 1960s music; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks; Thursday nights were his poker night with the same bunch of guys for the past 40+ years; and

WHEREAS, Rick Payne was an explorer and was fortunate enough, along with his wife, to visit 29 states and 12 countries; and

WHEREAS, Rick Payne is survived by his wife of 46 years, Susan; his children, Jason, Angela, Elizabeth (Jaime Valle), and Eric (Jaclyn Jennetten); his grandchildren, Elena, Ada, Arianna, Xavier, Leah, and Olivia; his mother, Betty (Benson) Payne; his brother, Scott; and numerous other family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard R. "Rick" Payne and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rick Payne as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
