SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Larry L. Weyhrich of Springfield, who passed away on February 13, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Larry Weyhrich was born to Walter and Ethel (Forsythe) Weyhrich in Springfield on August 24, 1948; he married Carol J. Humphrey on September 17, 1983; he received a master's degree in Library Science from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana and a master's degree in Political Science from the University of Illinois at Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Larry Weyhrich retired from the Illinois State Library in 2012; and

WHEREAS, Larry Weyhrich gave tours of Abraham Lincoln's Home for many years and volunteered at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum for 17 years; and

WHEREAS, Larry Weyhrich was a member of Peace Lutheran Church; and

WHEREAS, Larry loved reading books about history, especially Abraham Lincoln; he enjoyed farm life growing up and in his later years loved socializing over a glass of wine; he will be remembered as an intelligent and kindhearted man who always put his family before himself; and

WHEREAS, Larry Weyhrich was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Larry Weyhrich is survived by his wife; his two daughters, Joelle (Mark) Jones and Erica (Chuck) Cummings; his two grandchildren, Lydia and Raine Cummings; his granddog, Myles; and his grandcat, Lacey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Larry L. Weyhrich and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Larry Weyhrich as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
