SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jerry Ray Gould, who passed away on January 28, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Gould was born to Percy Jay Gould and Mary Gould in Moline on January 27, 1940; he attended Alwood High School, where he enjoyed playing basketball with his brother; he started serving as a weather observer in the U.S. Navy in 1959 and was honorably discharged in 1963; and

WHEREAS, After his military service, Jerry Gould began working for the Orlando Sentinel newspaper in Florida; he then moved to Andros Island in the Bahamas, where he worked as as a technical expert in computer sciences for a United States Naval contractor; and

WHEREAS, In retirement, Jerry Gould returned to Alpha and connected with many of his friends from his school days; he enjoyed golfing with his friends and spent many winters in Arizona; and

WHEREAS, Jerry Gould was preceded in death by his wives, Barbra (Clark) Gould and Judy (Hyatt) Gould; his parents; his brothers, Willard Gould and Thomas Gould; and his sisters, Maridean (Gould) Andree and Carol (Gould) Spence; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Jerry Gould was survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jerry Ray Gould and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jerry Gould as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
